The private guide included with every booking is the real differentiator: you set your own schedule rather than sharing a vehicle. The Chifungulu Channel behind camp is the calmest canoeing water in the park.

What the park charges on top
The rate above buys you a bed. Lower Zambezi National Park charges its own entry fee for every day you are inside. Here is what that adds up to.

Indicative 2026 rates from operators' own rate cards, gathered July 2026. Always confirm with the lodge. Two things shift the real comparison here. First, camps inside the park add $85 to $120 per person per night in bundled park and conservation fees, and most quote that separately. Second, camps in the Chiawa game management area carry no national park entry fee at all unless you cross into the park, which is why a GMA bed can work out far cheaper than the headline rate suggests.

Is Sausage Tree Camp good for families?
Sausage Tree Camp welcomes children aged nine and older; those nine to fifteen pay half the adult rate when sharing with two adults, and guests sixteen and over pay the full rate. The two-bedroom Kigelia House, which sleeps up to four, suits a family wanting its own space within the camp.
Can you self-drive to Sausage Tree Camp?
Sausage Tree Camp is normally reached by charter flight to Jeki airstrip inside the park, with transfers arranged by the camp. Green Safaris publishes no road times or self-drive directions, so ask reservations whether a road and boat transfer is possible for your dates.
What does the rate at Sausage Tree Camp include?
Rates start from $1,200 a person a night and cover a private guide, vehicle, boat and canoe for every booking, plus game drives by day and night, walking safaris, canoeing, boat cruises and tiger fishing, with fishing and canoeing dependent on water levels. Is Sausage Tree Camp good for a honeymoon?
Yes. Each suite has its own plunge pool overlooking the Zambezi, and you can dine on your private deck instead of joining the boma. The camp arranges private sunset cruises and a candlelit bath after a game drive, and the whole camp can also be booked for exclusive use.
How many nights should you book at Sausage Tree Camp?
The camp recommends a minimum of three nights to make the most of game drives, walking, canoeing and fishing. Guests who stay four nights or more get a complimentary return charter flight, a meaningful saving given that most visitors arrive by air.
